indieVelo was the enthusiast favorite: built by a physicist, credible racing, free through its beta. TrainingPeaks bought it in late 2024, renamed it TrainingPeaks Virtual, and since April 2025 it lives inside a paid TrainingPeaks Premium subscription. Fair enough; servers cost money. But if you came looking for "indieVelo but free," that option is gone.
Gumwall Grand Prix is the other philosophy: free forever as a matter of principle, because it is made by a frame shop, not a software company, and the business model is frames. Browser tab, no install. Sixteen courses on real circuit shapes. Smart trainers via FTMS, dumb trainers via published virtual power curves, demo mode on anything with arrow keys.
What TrainingPeaks Virtual does better: deep training analytics, structured plans, and race organization with serious physics. If your training lives in TrainingPeaks already, the bundle makes sense. If you just want to ride indoors without a bill, that is exactly what this is for. Open the game.
