Custom steel frames

Built and painted one at a time in Colorado Springs.

Monsoon Cycles, Colorado Springs · Updated August 21, 2026

Austin builds and paints every frame himself in the Colorado Springs shop, start to finish. You talk through how you ride and get measured, then pick the tubing and paint scheme together.

Austin studied bicycle framebuilding under NJS master framebuilder Koichi Yamaguchi, whose bikes have won Olympic medals and world championships.

You can go lugged or fillet brazed. If you go lugged, Austin picks the lugs with you; some lug sets carry an additional charge.

Modern bikes come in three to six sizes, often five. Do people come in five sizes? Austin doesn't think so, and that, more than anything, is why he builds custom frames.

Every custom bike starts with a full fit, and the fit is guaranteed for life: adjustment sessions stay free as your body changes.

You can start the design yourself in the Frame Lab. It is the same geometry engine used at the bench, so bring the share link to the first conversation.

A frame is $3,400. The waitlist runs about 12 months, with an $800 deposit to hold your spot. Email austin@monsooncycles.com with your interest and a Frame Lab link if you made one.
